A native Miamian, Dr. Dagmar Lemus is a bilingual (English and Spanish) board-certified medical doctor. She graduated from the University of Miami, just down the street from her practice in South Miami, with a major in Microbiology. She then attended medical school in Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Guadalajara Mexico, strengthening her fluency in Spanish, followed by a fifth pathway year under the faculty of New York Medical College, rotating through St. Claires Hospital in Manhattan, NY. Her residency in Internal Medicine was completed in Cincinnati, OH at Good Samaritan Hospital.
She then returned to her hometown with the goal of helping people from her Miami community. In her years as a local medical practitioner, she’s worked with the most esteemed medical centers across Miami. She started her career in Internal Medicine at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Hospital in Miami Beach, then moved to Cedars Medical Center, Hospital in Downtown Miami and Doctors Hospital, a Baptist Hospital located in Coral Gables, FL.
Dr. Lemus became a Member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and later completed a Fellowship in Anti-Aging Metabolic and Functional Medicine.
In 2010, she began working at Oliver Pyatt Centers (OPC), a residential eating disorder facility in Miami where she oversaw the medical care for patients with eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia, binge eating disorder (BED), and ARFID. Dr. Lemus oversaw the medical care for EMBRACE patients, a BED program, working closely with the team therapist, dietician, and psychiatrist. She developed her distinct approach, integrating her knowledge of Functional Medicine in her work with her eating disorder patients. During this time, she saw the profound impact of using Functional Medicine with her patients.
She returned to Doctor’s Hospital as the Medical Director and founder of the Doctors Hospital Group, where she thrived in an administrative capacity through 2020. She then funneled her passion for providing medical care for South Florida’s community into starting a practice incorporating Functional Medicine in eating disorder treatment to optimize patient care and incorporating Functional Medicine in her general practice patients.
